Paper Submission Information

Submit Your Creative Writing and/or
Critical Essay!

Five submissions in each category will be read at the
18th Annual Francelia Butler Conference

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Submissions do not have to be work done at Hollins, but must have been written no earlier than June 2011.

Currently, we only accept paper submissions from Hollins students.

You may submit one piece of work to each of the two categories, creative and critical. Papers that were read at last summer’s conference, have been published, or have been read at an academic conference are not accepted. You may re-submit work that was submitted (but not read) last summer if it has been revised.

All papers should be no longer than 3500 words. You should include your works cited page with critical submissions, but it does not count toward your word limit. Papers should follow MLA format: 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, one-inch margins. Pages should also be numbered in the top right corner (1 of X, 2 of X, etc).

Copies of the conference submission sheet and submission checklist are available in Swannanoa on the table opposite the mailboxes, or click on the links above.

The deadline for all submissions* is 5:00 pm on Friday, July 13. There is a labeled drop-off box for conference submissions inside Swannanoa.
