We are excited to announce the theme for the 2013 Francelia Butler Conference is Graveyards & Dark Spaces: Reaching into the Shadows of Children's Literature. This year we are honored to welcome Dr. Karen Coats as our keynote speaker. You can find more detailed information about her professional interests in Children's Literature, along with an impressive list of her recent publications, including her latest book, The Gothic in Children's Literature: Haunting the Borders, on her website. We encourage you to continue to visit the FBC blog throughout the upcoming months, as we are not only going to be posting practical information about the conference, but also updating it with findings that are related to this year's theme to serve as an 'extension' of the conference, that is: just-for-fun, interesting, or educational finds that fit with this year's theme, to check out at your leisure. Also, in other exciting news, we would like to welcome the Hollins Literacy Camp to this year's FBC! For more information about this wonderful program, click here.
